Hello friends! I’m back after a much needed vacation from social media and I have great news! I am thrilled to be a part of the Pink and Main design team! Today I am sharing a simple card created with the Batty for You Set. Keep reading below to figure out how I made this woodsy design.

The woodgrain background was the perfect design choice for this card background and it was really easy to make! I swiped Vintage Photo and Gathered Twigs Distress inks vertically onto a light brown cardstock. The two brown inks combined created a really nice textured look. To get the bolder lines I held the small ink pad at an angle and used the side of the ink to swipe.

Once the background dried, I trimmed the light brown cardstock to an 1/8″ of an inch less (horizontally and vertically) than A2 sized. Next, I used an oval shape to die cut an opening in the upper, center of the card front.

With a pencil I traced the opening onto the A2 sized dark brown card stock so I could align the oval shape perfectly inside the opening. I used liquid adhesive to attach the oval to the dark brown cardstock and I used foam tape to attach the light brown card to give it a dimensional look.

Next, I colored the upside down bat image from the Batty for You set with Copic markers (BV20’s and BV00’s) and glued him inside of the oval opening. This way it looked like the bat is hanging upside down inside an opening in a tree.

I heat embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder onto a Large Sentiment Strip die (on dark brown cardstock) just wide enough to fit the sentiment. I added another sentiment die cut (light brown) underneath to create a layered look. To finish the card I added a few iridescent sequins for embellishment.
