Modern Handcraft Snowflake Quilt

For my first Christmas quilt I made this adorable Snowflake quilt pattern from Modern Handcraft. You can find the pattern here. This was also my first sew along which I really enjoyed!

The finished size is roughly “60 x 72”. The quilt pattern was extremely detailed which made it very helpful. The pattern included instructions to make three different versions of this quilt varying the background colors: a 1-color version, 4-color version, and a scrappy version. I made the 4-color version with a red, pink, teal, and dark blue green background.

All of the fabric was purchased from Joanns including the red and white snowflake backing fabric and the candy cane striped binding. I used Kona Solids for the background. I believe the colors I used are Red, Watermelon, Pool, and Emerald. The white fabric even has little snow flake details on it.

I had enough fabric left over that I was able to use the scraps to create a coordinating pillow case. I used white glitter felt for the snowflake appliques. I used horizontal lines to quilt the pillowcase just like I did for the quilt. I believe my quilt lines were 2″ apart. I even used the same backing fabric for the envelope closing on the backside of the pillow case.
