I am so thrilled to show everyone a sneak peak from the Kindred Stamps May 2020 monthly release. This month I get to share with you the Life’s A Ride stamp set featuring awesome park attractions and the Kindred Stamps Creative Team! I created two awesome card projects with this amazing stamp set. At the end of the blog post I have included a product list of the items used to create these projects. Since I created multiple variations some of the stamp images I did not provide a coloring guide. Life’s A Ride will be available for purchase on the Kindred Stamps website on Friday, May 22 at 8 AM PST.
Project 1
For my first project I created a slimline card (3.5″ x 8.5″) to show off all the fun park ride stamps. I used Distress Oxide inks (Picked Raspberry, Tumbled Glass, and Seedless Preserves) to create the three colorful panels that each measured 2.5″ x 3″. I used Purple Tape to mask off 1/4″ sections of the card front to create the white space surrounding the panels. Since the water spots did not show up as well on the middle panel I added blue detail lines to look like moving water. Lastly, I heat embossed the two sentiments “WEEE!” and “Life’s A Ride” with white embossing powder from Brutus Monroe.
Project 2
For my second project I decided to make a spinner card for the spinning teacups ride. When the recipient opens the card the teacup spins in circles just like on the ride! I used the patterned paper from the A Day in the Park Paper Pack for the printed backgrounds and the envelope liner. I am OBSESSED with this paper pack! So many fun designs! I also used the Tea Party Washi tape to add an extra detail to the coordinating envelope. I have to say I am very pleased with how this project turned out.
For the spinner component I had to stamp the image twice, once as itself and again as the mirror image. The mirror image is needed so when the image spins you have the same image on the front as you do on the back. To get the mirror image I first stamped the image onto a piece of acetate and then put the stamped image face down onto white cardstock and applied pressure to re-stamp the image onto the white cardstock. For better instructions on mirror stamping check out this video by Jennifer McGuire here. Hint: The Misti stamping tool is really helpful for producing a mirror image by reverse stamping!
