The Tunnel Card, Mermaid Add-On contains 8 metal dies to create an underwater grotto perfect for a mermaid and her ocean friends. There are three interchangeable layer pieces to create the underwater scene. These background layers (circles) line up perfectly into the tunnel base die. Additional decorative die pieces include coral, fishes, seaweed, other underwater plants and a scrolled banner to layer.
To make the tunnel card I first cut out four tunnel bases, swapping out the scenic layers, and finally leaving the final base solid. I used the solid card base for the tunnel card background. I trimmed off the sides of the two inner layers, one at the score lines and the other a little past the score lines to give varying heights. To decorate the tunnel card bases I used Distress inks and the ink smooching technique with some ocean colors.
I created some extra die cuts to color some of the decorative pieces with my Copic Sketch markers. I used Antique Linen and Frayed Burlap Distress oxide inks to color the sentiment scroll. I heat embossed the sentiment “Seas the day,” with white embossing power. I attached all the decorative pieces with liquid adhesive.
