KS May 2021 Release – Journey Home

Thanks for stopping by my blog! It’s the third day of the Kindred Stamps Release Week for May 2021 and I am excited to share a sneak peek of the Journey Home stamp set. This set and the rest of the release will be available on Friday, May 28th at 8 AM PST. Check it out here!
Project 1
For my first project I wanted the characters to look like they are walking down a brick path. I used post-it tape to mask off the angled sides. I ink blended the path way with Squeezed Lemonade Oxide ink, Mustard Seed Distress ink and the Distress Brick Stencil. I used Mowed Lawn Oxide ink to ink blend the grassy sides. I used plain water to create the splatter effect on the plain grass sections. Next, I stamped the in pigment black ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I die cut the front panel with the dot-n-dashed rectangle from the Card Basics Die Set. The characters were glued to the card with liquid adhesive. The black glitter sequins were attached to the card with mini glue dots.
Project 2
For my next card I wanted to create a sepia-toned farm scene. I ink blended the cloud background with Walnut Stain Oxide ink and the retired cloud builder stencil. I also used Walnut Stain Oxide ink and the water splatter effect to color the Sentiment Strip after I heat embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder. Lastly, I used the ink to shade the two patches of grass. I colored the Barn die cut, the fence pieces from the National Barnyard Animals Day Set, and the character with the E70s series of Copic markers. To add some color to the card I added the Stitched Rainbow die cut to peek out behind the Barn and above the grass. I used Copic markers to color the different layers of the rainbow.
Project 3
For my third project I wanted to create a pink fairytale themed card to coordinate with the pink witch. I blended a pink background with Worn Lipstick, Kitsch Flamingo, and Spun Sugar Oxide inks. I used white pigment ink and the retired Bubbles stencil to create the floating bubbles. I used water to create an splatter look on the background. I die cut a vellum circle with the Card Basics Die Set and shaded it with Spun Sugar Oxide ink. I added a sparkle design to the vellum bubble with the Flash Stencil and Hickory Smoke Distress ink. The highlight detail on the bubble I created with a while gel pen. I die cut the front panel with the dot-n-dashed rectangle from the Card Basics Die Set and I used the Pull and Slide Die Set to create an interactive pull tab so the pink witch floats in the bubble. I heat embossed the sentiment with silver embossing powder onto a stitched banner die cut.
Check out the video below to see how I used the Pull and Slide Die Set:

Project 4
For my fourth project I wanted to create a scene with the green witch in her castle with her side kick. I used the Forest Stencil and the Stage Builder Stencil to hand sketch the background with a pencil and I colored the scene with my Copic markers. I used Tonic Studios Crystal Glaze on the hand sketched the orb to give it a glossy look. I die cut the front panel with the dot-n-dashed rectangle from the Card Basics Die Set and layered it onto a piece of navy cardstock. I heat embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder onto a navy stitched oval die cut. To finish the card I added gold sequins for embellishment.
Project 5
For my last project I wanted to create a tornado scene to coordinate with the “Don’t Make Me Drop A House on You” sentiment. I used my W series copic markers to create the tornado scene background. I used the house from the retired Up for an Adventure stamp set. I put the house on a wobbler so it looks like it’s moving in the storm. I die cut the front panel with the dot-n-dashed rectangle from the Card Basics Die Set and layered it onto a piece of black cardstock. To finish the card I added the green witch and the pink witch to the card front with foam tape to add dimension.
