Kickin’ It! with Kindred Stamps

Hi friends! Thanks for stopping by my blog. Today I am sharing two sporty cards featuring the Kick Some Grass set from Kindred Stamps. Growing up my siblings and I all played a lot soccer, so this set was really fun for me to work with!

Project 1

For my first project I made a circle easel card designed to look like a soccer ball. I hand sketched the soccer ball design with a pencil and a ruler, and then I colored in the hexagons with my RV Copic markers. I used Copic markers to color all the images, the colors I used are listed at the end of this blog post.

I used pink and purple colors to match with the girly sentiment. I heat embossed the “Play Like a Girl” sentiment with Snowfall Embossing Powder onto a Sentiment Strip die cut. Next, I used foam tape to attach the sentiment strip and soccer player to the card front.

To create the easel card, I die cut 3 4.5″ circles and stacked them on top of each other. The middle circle I scored at 2.25″ and glued the edges to the top and bottom circles. The easel card will lay flat to fit inside of a envelope and it can also stand vertically.

To decorate the inside of the card, I inked the center with Wilted Violet Distress Oxide ink to add some color. Next, I die cut some pink and purple stars with star dies from the Card Basics Die Set. I heat embossed the “Kick Some Grass” sentiment with Snowfall Embossing Powder onto a large stitched star die cut Card Basics Die Set. I used foam tape to attach the stitched star to the inside of the easel card. To finish the card, I matted the easel circles onto a solid pink circle die cut.

Project 2

For my second project, I made a slider card so the soccer ball can be “kicked” between the two players. I used the Pull and Slide Die Set to create the slider mechanism. I used Broken China Distress Oxide ink and a retired Cloud Builder stencil to make the sky background. I used scraps of white cardstock and a black liner pen to create the soccer goal. To finish the card, I heat embossed the “I Get a Kick Out of You” sentiment with Snowfall Embossing Powder onto a red sentiment strip to look like a corner flag.

Check out the video below to see the how the soccer ball slider mechanism works!
