KS August 2021 Release – Spike It

Hi KS fans! Thanks for stopping by my blog. It’s the second day of the Kindred Stamps Release Week for August 2021, and I am excited to share a sneak peek of the new Spike It set. I have created three cards featuring the Spike It set. This set and the rest of the August release will be available on Friday, August 28th at 8 AM PST. Shop these new release products here!

I used my Copic Sketch markers to color all of the images.

Project 1

For my first card I wanted to create a simple background to accent the player. I used the Card Basics Die Set to cut the stitched rectangle card front. Next, I used post-it tape to mask off the white areas and ink blended the ombre red column with Distress Oxide inks: Abandoned Coral, Candied Apple, and Fired Brick. I matted the card front onto a black card base. I stamped the sentiment in pigment black ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I used foam circles to attach the girl and the volleyball to the card front.

Project 2
For my second card, I wanted to go with a patriotic theme due to the summer Olympic games last month. I used the Card Basics Die Set to cut the stitched rectangle card front. I ink blended with Candied Apple and Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxides onto scrap pieces of ink blending cardstock and used the Card Basics Die Set to die cut the star shapes layered onto the card front. I matted the card front with red and blue cardstock. Next, I used the Card Basics Die Set to create the shaker component featuring the Volleyball Clay Slices.

I heat embossed the “You’re An” portion of the “You’re An All Star” sentiment onto a red Sentiment Strips die cut that I trimmed in half. I used Snowfall Embossing Powder to heat emboss the sentiment. I used the Stitched Alpha Die Set to die cut the letters and build the rest of the “All Star” sentiment. I distressed the top and bottom of the letters with Aged Mahogany Distress ink.

I used glue dots to attach the volleyball and the athlete to front of the shaker component. Finally, I added some gold sequins for embellishment.

Project 3

For my last card I wanted to create a beach volleyball scene. I used the Card Basics Die Set to cut the stitched rectangle card front. To decorate the card front I used Tumbled Glass Distress ink to distress the edges and to create the ink splatter look. I stamped the sentiment with pigment black ink and heat embossed it onto the card front with clear embossing powder.

To create the sandy floor I tore pieces of tan card stock to get the rough edges. I trimmed the pieces to 4″ wide to fit on top of the card front. I used Vintage Photo Distress ink to ink distress the edges of the the tan cardstock and to create the ink splatter look.

To make the volleyball net I used replacement screening for a screen door. I used think blue and white twine to run along the top and bottom of the net. I wrapped the net and twine around the back of the card front and secured them with tape. I used foam tape to attach the card front to the tan matte. To finish the card I used foam circles to attach the girl and the volleyball to the card front.
