Ai Owl Always Love You

Hey friends! Thanks for stopping by my blog. Today, I am sharing Valentine’s day cards featuring the Owl Flutter Set by Art Impressions. This set is part of Ai’s Flutter collection which includes a bunch of fun interactive stamp and die sets. This project is perfect for Ai’s current challenge, “Shimmy & Shake”, since the owl flaps his wings up and down! Find out more about Ai challenges here. Finally, this project is featured on the Ai blog today, check it out here.

This adorable owl image is from the Owl Flutter Set. I colored the owl with Copic markers including W5, W3, W1, W00 for the feathers and Y00, Y11, Y21, Y26 for the eyes. In the stamp set the owl is wearing a birthday hat. After stamping and coloring the image I just used scissors to remove the hat from my image.

With this interactive card, when you pull on the tab the owl’s wings move up and down. Ai has provided wonderful instructions on how to make this mechanism work inside of the stamp packaging. The stamps, dies, and push-pins are all provided in the set. You will just need string and a pencil!

To create the background I used a retired Hearts and Dots Stencil from Kindred Stamps with Worn Lipstick, Seedless Preserves, and Candied Apple Distress Oxide inks. I distressed the edges of the card front and the heart die cuts with Candied Apple Distress ink. The heart die cuts and the “XO” stamp come from the Lovable Animals set.

I created another version of the card where the owl is stationary. I used the Stitched Circle die cut to add a sentiment to the front of the card. The “Owl Always Love You” sentiment is also from the Lovable Animals Set. I love both versions of this card design. Aren’t they just adorable?!

Hope these lovable creations have inspired you today. Check out some more of my Art Impressions creations here!
