Quilts and Sewing Projects Intro!

I have recently taken up sewing as another fun hobby! It’s a wonderful way to stay connected to my Grandma back on the east coast as she is an amazing quilter and seamstress. I’ve also made some new local friends which has been great.

It took me a while to figure out how I wanted to incorporate these projects into my blog. I have so many projects I want to share! Initially, I have a back log of projects to post but I will also be mixing in some new stuff. My blog will still mostly be papercrafts but I also wanted to share my other creative outlets.

In this post I’m going to share some of my very first projects which include a quilt, a wall hanging and a pillowcase. Just keep scrolling to see all of these fun creations!

Jelly Roll Rail Fence Quilt

This was my very first quilt pattern and it was a great one to start with. The Jelly Roll Rail Fence pattern was created by Material Girl Quilts. You can find the free quilt pattern here! These quilts are roughly 48″ x 54″. This pattern is extremely simple as it only requires one jelly roll to create the quilt top.

Most of the fabric I found at Joann but I believe the orange and mint woodland fabric is from Hobby Lobby. Two of these three quilts were donated as part of the Afghanistan refugee collection for families. I had to keep one (the purple and green one) since this is my very first quilt. For the quilt I decided to keep I was able to use the left over fabric to create a scrappy pillow.

Big Foot Row by Row Wall Hanging

This Row by Row kit was purchased from Gee Gee’s quilt shop. It includes the instructions and fabric to create this project. You can also purchase this kit here.

This row by row was created with traditional piecing but the big foot silhouette is applique. I used horizontal lines about 1 inch apart to quilt the wall hanging.

Pixelated Present Pillowcase

This free block pattern is from Clover and Violet. You can find the pattern here. The scrappy present used a mini charm pack and a little bit of yardage. This pillow features the Vintage Holiday collection by Bonnie & Camille for Moda Fabrics. purchased a kit from Starlit Quilts at a local quilt expo. The kit included enough fabric to turn the block into a pillowcase. My pillowcase size is “18 x 18”.

I hope you enjoyed these fun projects! You can find more of my sewing creations here
