Happy Thursday friends! I know it’s only September but today I wanted to share a beginner-friendly, Valentine’s Day project. This quilt uses another pattern from Modern Handcraft called the Big Love Quilt. The is a free pattern and you can find the tutorial here.
I used the vibrant Tula Pink’s True Colors Flamingo Fat Quarter Bundle from Missouri Star Quilt Co. for the background fabric. The background is made up of big half-square triangles (HST). With this bundle, I was able to make the Large Throw size of 64″ x 64″. I love all of the bright pinks, reds, and purples.
The center heart fabric is Tula Pink’s True Colors – Mineral Opal. Since the fabrics are so busy on the quilt top I decided to use solids for the backing and bindings. I used Kona Bright Pink for the quilt backing and Kona Geranium for the binding.
With the left over fabrics I was able to make a coordinating pillowcase. This scrappy heart pillowcase measures to be a 22″ square.
I hope you enjoyed these lovely projects! You can find more of my sewing creations here
